Put the butter horseradish peppercorns and 2 tablespoons salt in a medium bowl and stir until evenly combined.
Standing rib roast recipe oven off.
Place the prime rib in a shallow roasting pan fat side up.
Place roast on a rack in the pan with the rib side down and the fatty side up.
Then generously coat the roast with kosher salt and pepper on all sides.
Turn the oven off and leave the roast inside.
Preheat the oven to 375 degree f.
Roast your prime rib for one hour and then turn off the heat.
Leave roast in oven but do not open oven door for 3 hours.
Do not open the oven door for anything.
Roast for 1 hour.
Roast for 1 hour in the preheated oven.
Weight of the prime rib x 5 total roasting time in minutes for example if you have a 3 pound roast 3 5 15 minutes.
Before serving turn oven back on to 300.
In addition to or instead of the vegetables that roasted with the beef try some brussels sprouts or green beans or make it a traditional meat and potatoes dinner with mashed potatoes roast potatoes or a baked potato as above pour the jus over the top or put gravy on the table in a sauce.
When trying to figure out how much time you need to roast your prime rib use this simple calculation.
Leave it in there for 3 hours.
Place beef fat side up on rack in a roasting pan uncovered in oven for 1 hour and then turn off oven.
Rub with olive oil.
Do not open the door.
For the prime rib.
Rub the salt and pepper in.
About 30 to 40 minutes before serving time turn oven to 375 degrees f and reheat the roast.
For a bone in prime rib figure two servings per rib while a boneless roast will yield two servings per pound.
Make a rub of salt pepper and garlic powder and apply to meat.
With this recipe we are cooking a 6 7 pound prime rib roast at 200 f.
Roast the 4 pound prime rib see footnote if using a larger and smaller roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Do not open the oven door or take out the roast.
Roast at 550 f at 5 minutes per pound for rare or 6 minutes per pound for medium and 7 minutes per pound for well done.
Turn off oven at the end of cooking time and do not open oven door for two hours.
Leave the prime rib in the oven.
Rub with salt pepper to taste.
The size of the roast the oven temperature and the oven itself and how done you prefer your meat.
When making slow roasted prime rib the total cooking time depends on a few things.
Preheat oven to 375.
Remove roast from the oven slice and serve.
Turn the oven off and leaving the roast in the oven with the door closed let the roast sit in the oven for 2 hours.
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees f.
Garlic salt i use fresh minced garlic.
Place meat in a shallow roasting pan fat side up.
30 to 40 minutes before serving turn the oven back on at 375 degrees f 190 degrees c to reheat the roast.
Rub roast with 1 tablespoon house seasoning.
